Serial Shipping Container Codes are 18‑digit, globally unique identifier used to identify a logistics unit—such as a pallet, carton, case, or any combination of trade items packaged together for storage or transport. It is a GS1 standard and serves as the “license plate” for a shipment, enabling precise tracking and traceability across the supply chain.
The SSCC is typically encoded in a GS1‑128 barcode and printed on a GS1 Logistics Label to support automated scanning and receiving.
